Devani & Kassam Adventures: FamTripping Through The Grand Canyon National Park

· National Park,United States,2023,Spring Break

Our family had been planning our trip to the Grand Canyon National Park for months, and we were finally there in Spring 2023, standing at the edge of one of the most breathtaking natural wonders in the world. The vast expanse of the canyon, with its stunning colors and dramatic rock formations, took our breath away. What made this trip memorable is that Kassam’s decided to join us on this adventure. Our adventure includes a few days in the Grand Canyon, a road trip to a lesser known National Park in Colorado called Mesa Verde National Park. Lastly a drive through the state of Colorado and fly back home via Denver Colorado.

Plan

To make the most of our limited time at the Grand Canyon, we had planned a two-day itinerary that included some of the most popular activities and sights in the park.

We took the shuttle bus to the trailhead at Hermit's Rest and started our hike, making sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. The trail was steep and rocky, but the stunning vistas of the canyon made it all worth it. We stopped at several viewpoints along the way, taking photos and admiring the scenery.

The seven-mile round trip was relatively easy, and the gentle breeze on our faces made the ride enjoyable. We stopped at several viewpoints along the way and marveled at the beauty of the canyon.

Stargazing / Moon Watch

How to Stargaze

  • Plan: Even the light from a thin crescent moon can make it more difficult to see fainter stars or even the Milky Way. You'll see the darkest skies during a new moon or when the moon is below the horizon.
  • Give yourself time: It can take 20-30 minutes for your eyes to adjust to the dark. Spend enough time outside away from bright lights to allow your eyes to adjust.
  • Use a red light: White lights from flashlights, cell phones, or vehicle headlights can harm your night vision. A red light won't impact your night vision as much. Many flashlights and headlamps have a red-light feature, or you can simply cover your white light with red cellophane.
  • Bring a star chart: A star chart or planisphere can help you find the constellations and Milky Way.
  • Use an app:
